Privacy Policy
Effective May 17, 2026
RackScan is a mobile app that analyzes photos of network and AV equipment. This policy explains what data the app collects, where it goes, and how to remove it. Plain English; no dark patterns.
What we collect
- Photos you take or upload for analysis. Sent transiently to Anthropic's Claude API for the AI assessment, then discarded server-side.
- Assessment results and notes you save in the app. Stored locally on your device only.
- Client and scan history you create. Stored locally on your device only.
- Subscription status via RevenueCat (anonymous device identifier — no email or name).
- Crash reports via Sentry if enabled (device model, OS version, stack trace — no photos, no personal data).
What we don't collect
- We don't ask for your email, phone, or name in v1.0.
- We don't track your location.
- We don't sell or share data with advertisers.
- We don't keep your photos after analysis completes.
Where your photos go
When you tap "Analyze," the app sends your photo(s) over HTTPS to our Cloudflare Worker, which forwards them to Anthropic's Claude API (claude-opus-4-7). Anthropic processes the photo transiently to produce the assessment and does not retain it under their commercial API terms. Our Worker is stateless and does not store the photo either. The assessment JSON is returned to your device and saved only if you tap Save.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are managed by Google Play and RevenueCat. RevenueCat sees an anonymous device identifier and your purchase status. Cancel anytime in your Google Play account; access remains until the end of the paid period. The free tier allows 1 scan.
Your data, your control
Go to Settings → Delete All My Data in the app to wipe every scan, client, and preference from this device. This action is immediate and irreversible. To delete a single scan, long-press it in History.
Coming in v1.1: cloud sync
A future update will add optional email-based accounts so your scans can sync across devices. That feature will be off by default, and we will prompt you to review an updated privacy notice before turning it on. The current version (v1.0) is local-only.
Children
RackScan is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy materially, we will update the "Effective" date and notify active users in-app before the change takes effect.
